HPPLA advisors are available to meet with IU Bloomington students and alumni pursuing careers in law, medicine, and other health professions. Come in to talk about your individual application strategy, learn how to succeed on professional school admissions tests, or get help with your personal statement. If you are applying to health profession school, work on your interview skills with a mock interview with a HPPLA advisor. We look forward to working with you throughout your time here at Indiana University!

The data shows our services work! Here's one measure: In 2017, Indiana University applicants to MD medical schools who obtained feedback on their personal statements from a HPPLA advisor were accepted at a rate of 60.81%. That was 11.15% higher than those IUB applicants whose statements were not reviewed by a HPPLA advisor, and 17.37% above the national admission rate!

Please note: Advising appointments with HPPLA specialists focus on helping students prepare for admission to professional schools. Please meet with your assigned academic advisor to discuss registration planning and course selection, degree requirements, your graduation timeline, and similar issues.

IU Students and Alumni: How to Schedule an Appointment

Making an appointment is easy using the Student Appointment Scheduler.

Follow these steps:

Go to the Student Appointment Scheduler and log in with your IU username and passphrase.
Use the "Search for Advisor" feature to search for the name of a particular HPPLA advisor, or just search for "HPPLA."
Click on "Schedule Appointment" and follow the prompts to schedule. Select an open appointment time that fits your schedule, and click on "Request Appointment."
Fill in your current phone number and a reason for scheduling. Click "Submit Request."
Done! You can confirm your appointment time by returning to the SAS home screen. You can also cancel or reschedule appointments from that screen

A confirmation email will be sent to your IU email account after you schedule an appointment. If you schedule at least 48 hours in advance, you will also receive a reminder email the day before your appointment.

For alumni: if you no longer have access through your IU user name, please call 812-855-1873 for help scheduling an appointment.

Are you a high school student thinking of attending IU?

We invite you to attend an information session with a Health Professions & Prelaw Advising advisor.

These meetings are scheduled through the IU Office of Admissions. Go to this online form or call 812.855.0661 to schedule a visit that will include meeting with a HPPLA advisor. All visits with prospective students and parents are scheduled through the IU Office of Admissions.
